Today Team Supporting Sports in the Community

The story of Today Team and our Managing Director, Jamie Boyd, has always had sport and the local community at its core.

From achieving his dream as a professional rugby league player with Warrington Wolves, to sponsorship of one of his old teams, Crosfields ARLFC, and support for Warrington Disability Partnership, these commitments have been an important part of the Today Team’s identity and values.

We’re also pleased to extend this commitment further through our sponsorship of two local sports teams, Sevenbrooks FC and Warrington Girls CRLFC, as Jamie explains:

“Having grown up in the area and with sport playing such a big part in my life, it’s great that Today Team can support these two fantastic local clubs doing such good things in their communities. We’re happy to help them in achieving their goals of looking and feeling more like a team and wish them all the best for the season.”

Sevenbrooks FC Pre-Match Shirt Sponsors

Sevenbrooks FC is an FA accredited football team with open age, U17 and U13 teams. Founded after the COVID lockdowns as a way to get men in the local area out, socialising and exercising, the team has become more and more competitive since then.

A core group of the team, including coach Tony Taylor, have been involved since the start. Tony started coaching when his son, Connor, was 7 years old. Now 16, Connor has joined him in the open age team.

As Tony describes: “Today Team has helped our team in our goal to look uniformed before and after games. Instead of everyone arriving in their own clothing, now, we all arrive looking like a team.”

Playing in Division Two of the Wigan & District Amateur League, Sevenbrooks have had a better start than previous seasons, winning 3 of their 9 games so far. We wish them the best of luck for the rest of their fixtures this year!

Warrington Girls Game Day Volunteer Shirt Sponsors

Starting out as part of the Warrington Wolves setup in 2019, with the aim of raising awareness of the girls game, the team grew rapidly, and rebranded to Warrington Girls CRLFC last year.

With support and backing of Crosfields Rugby Club, Warrington Girls CRLFC boasts more than 120 girls playing across various age groups from U11 through to U18, showcasing the growth of the women’s and girls game.

Head Coach of the U15 team, Adrian Wintersgill, has been involved for a number of years, first coaching the group when they were an U13 team, and taking them onto U16 in the upcoming season.

As he explains; “Thanks to the kind generosity of Today Team, we were able to give our volunteers for our age group a matchday top, making us look more professional as well as identifiable on game day. We have previously used bibs, so to have these makes game days feel all the more special. It’s something the club are looking to arrange for all volunteers for next season.”

Playing teams from across Yorkshire and the North West last year, the U15s finished 5th in a tough league. They won the War of the Roses Trophy, which the club runs every year at Crosfields, and they were also North West girls Rugby Festival plate winners, after beating Blackbrook in the final.

After an influx of new squad members who had never played, development was a big part of the plans for the season, and on that measure, it was a great success. Other highlights included playing at Salford Red Devils during half-time, fundraising for charity by taking part in Pretty Muddy, and being ball girls and flag bearers at the Women’s Super League final and England versus Samoa.
